Master’s Thesis
Here is my Master’s Thesis on PrEP, or Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis. PrEP is a medication one takes to prevent contracting HIV. The 10-year anniversary of PrEP’s FDA approval was in summer 2022. I made a 23-minute audio documentary on what it’s meant for gay men over the past 10 years, what PrEP adoption and advocacy looks like now and how PrEP’s being used to fight the AIDS crisis. This was an extremely gratifying piece to make because of the connections I made between different members of my community. I also traveled to the Dominican Republic for part of my reporting; with the knowledge that the USA fully funds the DR’s HIV program (through a program called PEPFAR), I was able to compare and contrast the USA’s PrEP journey (10 years old) and the DR’s (3 years old).
